We believe that, in the heat of battle, a racer should be focused on the task at hand, knowing in the back of their mind that the frame they’re riding was conceived and engineered by the finest brains in the business. As racers, we find ourselves obsessively pursuing ‘ultimate ride quality’. Four years ago, we announced the SCULP, our ultra-light frame project, at under 700g. Today, the SSL marque represents the pinnacle of all of learnings, as we explore the boundaries of physics, allowing us to tune the perfect balance of weight, stiffness and that X-factor, which makes a bicycle frame great.
Tuned seatstays allow compliance for a smoother ride.
SSL Composite Technology applied to tune ride quality.
TeXtreme fibres used in critical areas to reduce weight and improve stiffness.
Box-section head tube, BB and down tube structure stiffens frame, improving acceleration and steering.
Asymmetric seat tube and chainstays maximise stiffness, optimising chainring and tyre clearance.
Through our continuous research and development, SSL technology uses an optimum combination of IM, HM and IS modulus carbon materials: Toray, Mitsubishi-Rayon and Swedish company’s TeXtreme. Their proprietary “Spread Tow” technology spreads material into at “tapes”, packing more into the same area. Each piece delivers the same strength, requiring less material, increasing the strength-to-weight ratio for the new Ultravox SSL by 24%. We are also able to adapt it to use with full carbon accessories like the headset and seatclamp.
